According to the Society of Clinical Oncology in a report that evaluated the benefits of yoga (2006 M.D. Anderson Cancer Center), improvements to the following were observed for cancer survivors and patients:
SLEEP & INSOMNIA: Improvement in falling to sleep and remaining asleep.
FATIGUE: Shows significant decrease in fatigue.
ANXIETY: Breathing practices and centering activities may reduce anxiety.
STRESS: Lessens all types of stress and in a few small studies yoga lowered blood cortisol, a hormone that is secreted during stress and my play a role in the progression of cancer.
